How To Get Away With Murder revealed one more survivor in this week’s episode - and it’s Asher, who isn’t dead but is suspiciously blood-soaked. Six episodes into the final season, the show is just the kind of gloriously complicated tale that fans love, and there’s going be a whole lot more than just a murder to wrap up by the end. The missing Laurel and the Castillos are still enemy/mystery number one, Annalise is definitely plotting to fake her own death and run away, Michaela finally knows who her father is (and is having serious issues with it), and of course there’s a dead body in the flash-forwards - but nobody knows who it is yet.

Thus far, previous flash-forwards have revealed that whoever is dead was an FBI informant, that Michaela is the prime suspect, and that both Connor and Tegan are also still alive. The murder weapon has also been revealed as Annalise’s poker, and it looks like the murder took place in the hallway where Gabriel and Asher live. The final clue is that this all happens on graduation night. This information still leaves plenty of potential victims, but ‘Family Sucks’ final scene showed that Asher is also still alive and kicking.

The flash-forward at the end of this week’s episode was another quick one. Asher is seen knocking on Bonnie’s door at night, and walks in looking stunned and scared. He turns around to show Bonnie that the front of his shirt and graduation gown is covered in blood. He doesn’t say anything, and she only says his name.

This scene gives fans two more survivors - Asher himself, and Bonnie. It also creates more of a specific timeline; up until this week, it was clear that this latest murder happened on graduation day, but the fact that this flash-forward happens at night suggests that whoever is dead was murdered hours after everyone graduated, when they were presumably celebrating. More and more, it seems that the signs are pointing to Gabriel as the victim: the dead body is outside his apartment, he’s worked with the FBI against Annalise in the past, he wouldn’t be missed at graduation because he’s in a different class to the rest, he has beef with Asher (especially now that Asher has slept with Michaela again), and he’s not a part of the core group that fans love. However, this isn’t a guarantee - anyone not officially confirmed to have survived could be lying on that hallway floor, with Nate another strong possibility, or even Solomon, who has become a bigger and bigger part of this season.

Despite not being able to know for sure who is dead quite yet, it’s likely that fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the big reveal. With only nine episodes left to go, How To Get Away With Murder needs to leave time for the murder to be not just shown, but resolved - on top of resolving the issues of Annalise and the Castillos, Franke and Laurel (Laurel in general!), Michaela and her father, and Nate’s fight for justice. Next week’s episode is even titled “I’m The Murderer,” so could it be that the identity of the dead body is given away as early as episode 7? Stranger things have happened on this show.
